PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ CINCINNATI REDS

The Phillies were 2-0 in this series and Cliff Lee made it 3-0 by pitching a very strong 8.2 innings and beating the Reds 3-0. Lee had a complete game shutout in hand until the bottom of the ninth inning. Cliff left the game with two out and the bases full one out shy of the complete game. Ryan Madson came in to close it out and got the out to give the Phillies the win and the Phillies their
19th shutout of the season.

Lee is now 15-7 and went 5-0 in August matching his record for the month of June. Cliff last lost a game on July 25th over a month
ago. His line tonight was no runs, six hits, one walk and seven K’s. Ryan Madson also collected his 25th save in 27 tries.

Hunter Pence went yard again hitting his 18th off of Dontrelle Willis. Hunter had one RBI as did Chase Utley and Ryan Howard.

Dontrelle Willis (0-4) started and gets the loss for the Reds.

The Phillies are now 40 games over .500 at 86-46 and still have the best record in the majors. The Phillies are now 3-0 in their final 33, looking for fourteen wins for 100!
