St.louis loses home opener in extra innings.Albert Pujols goes 0-5 and grounds into three double plays.

The Yankees win their home opener in the cold with Mark Teixeira belting a three run home run and Curtis Granderson a go-ahead solo shot in the seventh inning.

In Washington the Nationals lost their home opener 2-0 to the Atlanta Braves. Chipper Jones is back after major knee surgery and looking good in the opener. He went 2-4 and scored one of Atlanta’s two runs.

Cincinnati won their opener 7-6 over Milwaukee as both teams combined for six home runs, three each.
