FRIDAY RESULTS 04/01/2011

Opening day continued on Friday for the majority of teams as MLB 2011 is under way.

The Phillies were losing 4-0 but came back and won the game 5-4 with three runs in the bottom of the ninth.
Brett Myers started for Houston and pitched very well. Myers was the Phillies opening day starter from 2007-09. Roy Halladay started for Philly, pitched six innings and gave up one run on five hits.
Roy also struck out six with no walks in the season opener.

In the American league the White Sox out-scored the Indians in a slug-fest 15-10.The two teams combined for thirty five hits.

In other early action Pittsburg beat the Chicago Cubs 6-3, Kevin Correia gets the win and the Cubs Ryan Dempster has his first loss of the season.

The Texas Rangers at home in Arlington on Friday beat the Red Sox 9-5.Six of the Rangers nine hits were for extra bases three home runs and three doubles.

Jeremy Guthrie gave up three hits in eight shutout innings as the Baltimore Orioles beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1.

In Denver Colorado the Arizona Diamondbacks won on a wild pitch in the top of the 11th to hand the Colorado Rockies a 7-6 loss.

The Florida Marlins defeated the New York Mets 6-2. John Buck hit a grand slam in his Marlin debut and Logan Morrison added a solo shot for the Marlins. This is the final season opener at Sun Life Stadium for the Marlins as they will move to their new stadium in 2012.
