SUNDAY QUICK HITS
The Phillies open with a sweep taking all three games from the Houston Astros.
The last time they had a start like this was 1970.The really strange part is
the fact that with a 3-0 start to the season Cole Hammels starts his first game on Tuesday.Nice to say the least! Roy Oswalt dominated his former team allowing two runs on five hits, struck out six and issued one walk. The walk was the first the starters have given up this young season. Phillies bats also continued strong today with seven runs on thirteen hits.Ryan Howard and Ben Francisco each homered in todays game. Up next the Mets on Tuesday.
In Washington the Atlanta Braves crushed the Nationals 11-2. Brian McCann had four RBIs. Brian had the RBIs on three singles. The Braves took two of three from the Nationals to start the season.
Over in the American League the Yankees suffered their first loss of the season losing to the Tigers 10-7. The Yankees went long ball in the loss as Jorge Posada nailed two home runs, Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano each had one.
The St.louis Cardinals are finally in the win column, winning today 2-0 over
the Padres. Jamie Garcia struck out nine and allowed only four hits in the win.
Mets fans are happy today as New York went to 2-1 on the season with a
9-2 win over the Marlins. R.A.Dickey got the win allowing an unearned run
on five hits, struck out seven and walked three.
My favorite team in the American League, the Baltimoe Orioles, are now 3-0 to start the 2011 season. Zach Britton pitched in his major league debut and got the win giving up one run on three hits, struck out six and walked three batters. Tampa Bay is now 0-3 after the 5-1 loss.
