TUESDAY QUICK HITS
Tampa Bay continues to win and currently have won seven off their last eight games. Their latest a 2-1 win over the White Sox behind James Shields who pitched a complete game giving up one run on four hits walked one and struck out nine. Sean Rodriguez was two for four with one RBI for the Rays.
The White Sox’s John Danks pitched seven innings giving up both runs and gets the loss, he is now 0-2 this season.
Tampa is now 8-9 and the Chicago White Sox fall to 7-10.
This a tough one as my Phillies failed to show up against the Brewers in game two of their series. Losing on Monday and again tonight it is the first time this year that the Phillies have lost two in a row. Monday it took extra innings, in game two it was over when the Brewers scored a run in the second. The final was 9-0 and a six run seventh was the icing on the cake.
Roy Halladay (2-1) gets the loss giving up six runs in 6.2 innings. Dave Herndon came in to relieve Halladay gave up three runs and registered no outs.
Former Phillies pitcher Randy Wolf (2-2) shut down the Phillies allowing no runs on two hits, struck out five and walked three. Ryan Braun (5) and Casey McGehee (2) homered for the Brewers.
Cliff Lee will start for Philly in game three and try to avoid a sweep by the Brewers.
The Yankees blew a two run lead in the ninth and lost the game in the tenth to the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5. Mariano Rivera pitched the ninth and gave up the two runs for the Toronto tie, Ivan Nova pitched the tenth and gave up the winning run. Nova with the loss goes to 1-2.
Toronto used six pitchers and Jon Rauch (1-1) gets the win. Jose Bautista hit his fourth home run and the Jays also had four doubles in the win.
The Yankees contnued their long ball attack with home runs by Mark Teixeira (6) and Curtis Granderson (5). They lead the majors with twenty nine.
