Matt Holliday and Albert Pujols homered for St. Louis and Kyle Lohse threw a two hitter to shut down Washington as the Cardinals won 5-0. This was a career best for Lohse and he is now 3-1 for 2011. Lohse pitched a complete game gave up two hits, struck out six and walked two batters.
Matt Holliday went two for three with two RBI from his two run home run. Albert Pujols was also two for three with two RBI from his two run shot. The Nationals are now .500 at 9-9. Tom Gorzelanny pitched five innings in the Washington loss and his record goes to 0-2. Jason Werth and Michael Morse had the ony two hits for the Nationals against Lohse.
So why does someone making $425,000 steal $60 in shirts?
Leake’s record went to 3-0 as he went seven innings giving up three runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Taking care of business on the mound and hopefully off the mound as well. Leake apologized to the team and fans for the distraction of his arrest.
Cincinnati wins the game over Arizona 7-4 and is now 10-9. This was the Reds second win in eight games and gets them over .500 again. Joey Votto (3) homered for the Reds.
The Diamonbacks managed four runs on six hits, Stephen Drew was two for four with two RBI. Daniel Hudson drops to 0-4 with the loss.
The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Braves in a twelve inning game scoring two runs on a Matt Kemp (4) home run. This was his second game-ending home run in five days. Kemp ended the game on Sunday against St. Louis in the same fashion.
Clayton Kershaw pitched 8.2 innings allowing three runs on five hits for the Dodgers. Matt Guerrier (1-0) gets the win pitching two innings giving up two hits no runs. The Dodgers are now .500 at 10-10.
Atlanta drops to 8-12 after their loss. Freddie Freeman was two for three with his third home run of the season and two RBI on the day. Christhian Martinez gets his first loss of the year. Jair Jurrjens started for the Braves and gave up just one run on seven hits striking out six and walking two.
Roy Oswalt pitched a one hitter over six innings and the Phillies pen finished the job as they shut out the Padres 3-0. This is Oswalt’s tenth straight win going back to the 2010 seson. This is also the fourth shutout for the Phils this year. Roy Oswalt is now 3-0 and Jose Contreras gets the save, his fifth.
Matt Latos (0-3) started for the Padres and gets the loss going 4.1 innings and giving up three runs on four hits, he walked five and struck out seven. San Diego is now 8-11 and the Phillies are 12-6.
