SATURDAY QUICK HITS

     Minnesota put together thirteen hits and scored ten runs to defeat the Cleveland Indians. This was the first time the Twins scored more than five runs in a game this season. Starting pitched Brian Duensing went seven  innings giving up one run for his second win this year. Duensing (2-0) only allowed five hits struck out three and walked one.
     The twins offense all had a least one hit with the exception of Michael Cuddyer. Jason Kubel was two for three with three RBI. Danny Valencia had two RBI, he was one for four with a two run home run. Justin Morneau was back after a five game absence due to an illness and went two for five with two RBI.
     Cleveland started Fausto Carmona (1-3), he went five innings and gave up six runs for his third loss. The Indians are now 13-7 and the Twins 8-12. 

     The Chicago Cubs are now 10-10 after coming back with a five run eighth to down the Dodgers 10-8 . The Dodgers are now .500 also, at 11-11 with  the loss. Both teams combined for eighteen runs on twenty seven hits.
     Los Angeles had three home runs to aid their attack. Casy Blake was two for three with two walks, he homered and had two RBI. Andre Ethier’s hitting streak is now at twenty. He doubled to drive in two and was one for four in todays game. Ted Lilly started on the mound for the Dodgers, he gave up five runs on eleven hits struck out three and walked one. Matt Guerrier (1-1) gets the loss going 1.2 innings giving up five runs on four hits.
     Jeff Samardzija (2-0) wins the game for Chicago in relief and Carlos Marmol gets his fifth save. Starlin Castro was four for five with three RBI. Darwin Barney went three for five and he also had three RBI. The Cubs had four doubles Barney and Castro each had one.

     Dillon Gee(2-0) started for the Mets and pitched six innings for the win. Gee allowed four runs, two earned, on five hits, walked one and struck out five. Francisco Rodriguez recorded his fourth save for the Mets. Jason Bay hit his first home run of the season. He was two for four with three RBI. Ike Davis also homered for the Mets, his fourth this year.
    The Diamondbacks had Barry Enright (0-2) start the game and he pitched 5.2 innings giving up twelve hits and five runs in the 6-4 loss. Miguel Montero homered for Arizona, his third of the season.
Arizona goes to 8-11 and with the win the Mets are now 8-13.
