SUNDAY QUICK HITS
A must start for me, my Phillies! In game four of the series with San Diego it was Roy Halladay on the mound looking for the four game sweep. Going into today the Phillies won the first three games 3-0, 2-0, and 4-2. The Padres pitching not that bad, but the Phillies better. Halladay was looking to shut down the Padres and
looking for a possible shutout. How about a complete game shutout?
Halladay finishes the day pitching 8.2 innings giving up one run on five hits, walked one and tied his career high with fourteen strikeouts. Roy is now 3-1 this season.
The Phillies scored three runs on nine hits with Shane Victorino delivering on an inside the park home run. With the 3-1 win the Phillies are now 15-6.
Baltimore battled back to tie the Yankees in the bottom of the ninth and send the game into extra innings. The Yankees scored three in the eleventh to beat the Orioles 6-3.
Freddy Garcia started for New York and pitched six scoreless allowing two hits walking two and striking out seven. Boone Logan (1-1) gets the win in relief for the Yankees. Mariano Rivera gave up one run for the tie in the ninth for his second blown
save of the year.
The Orioles scored three runs on eight hits, Mark Reynolds hit his second home run of the season. Jason Berken (0-1) gets the loss for Baltimore pitching one inning giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits. Baltimore is now 8-12 and the Yankees
are 12-6.
In Chicago the Dodgers downed the Cubs 7-3 as Andre Ethier pushed his hitting streak to twenty one games. Ethier was two for five, Aaron Miles was three for five and Matt Kemp two for five, all with one RBI. James Loney added two RBI and the Dodgers
had eleven hits in the win.
Hiroki Kuroda (3-2) started for L.A and gets the win. He went 6.2 innings giving up three runs on nine hits struck out seven and issued no walks.
The Cubs loss went to starter Carlos Zambrano (2-1). Zambrano went five innings giving up six runs on eight hits, no walks and four K’s. Chicago is now 10-11, the Dodgers
go to 12-10.
