THURSDAY QUICK HITS

   Rookie Michael Pineda won his fourth game in five starts for Seattle with another solid performance. In just five major league appearances the twenty two year old is sporting a 4-1 record with a ERA of 2.01. Pineda gave up two runs today, the most since his first start in early April. In today’s start Pineda went six innings gave up two runs on four hits walked three and had nine strikeouts.
   Seattle had two home runs in the 7-2 win with Miguel Olivo hitting his second, and Luis Rodriguez his first of the season. Ichiro Suzuki was two for five for his twelfth multi-hit game of the year.
Brad Penny (1-3) lost his third game of the year going seven innings giving up four runs on nine hits. After losing this three game series to Seattle the Tigers are now 12-13. The Mariners needed the wins and are 11-15 as a result of the sweep.

   The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Rangers 5-2 and as a result took three out of four from the American League West leaders.  Brandon Morrow got the start for the Blue Jays and pitched six strong innings. He  gave up two runs on six hits. Frank Francisco (1-0) ended up getting the win in relief pitching a perfect 1.1 innings with three strikeouts.
   Toronto scored five runs on just seven hits. Adam Lind hit his fourth home run of  the year and had two RBI. The Blue Jays are just a game shy of .500 now with a 12-13 record.
   Texas starter Alexi Ogando pitched six good innings giving up two runs on four hits. Darren Oliver (1-2) gets the loss in relief giving up three runs one earned on three hits, one walk and one strikeout.
   The Texas Rangers record is 15-10 after losing three out of four to Toronto.
