Hamels was also active with his bat going two for four with a stand-up triple and a run scored. Raul Ibanez finally broke out of his slump, he was two for four, both doubles and one RBI. The slump was 0 for 35! Jimmy Rollins was back in the lead-off position for the first time this season. Rollins went two for four with a walk.
Nationals Jason Werth the $126 million former Phillies right fielder was 0-3 with a walk. The Phillies fans booed him but then cheered when he tipped his hat to the fans. The lone run for Washington was the result of a home run by Michael Morse, his first of the season.
Livan Hernandez (3-3) gets the loss going 6.1 innings, allowing four runs on ten hits, walking four with four strikeouts.
The Phillies are 19-9 and the Nationals drop to 14-15.
Brad Penny gave up one run to the Yankees allowed six hits walked two and struck out one in six innings. Penny (2-3) picked up the win as the Yankees went down 4-2. The win stops the Tigers seven game losing streak.
Scott Sizemore was called up from Triple-A Toledo and went three for four with one RBI. Austin Jackson helped the cause with two hits, one RBI and two runs scored. Detroit scored four runs on eleven hits, four for extra bases.
C.C. Sabathia (2-2) gets the loss for the Yankees. C.C. allowed the four runs on ten hits while walking three and striking out six.
Mark Teixeira hit his eighth home run and Jorge Posada was two for four in the Yankee loss.
Twins Francisco Liriano pitched a NO HITTER for Minnesota against the Chicago White Sox. He gave up six walks and struck out two. The Twins win 1-0.
The Dodgers lose 4-1 to the Chicago Cubs but Andre Ethier extended his hitting streak to 29 games.
