PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ FLORIDA MARLINS
Two the the top pitchers in the majors went at it in Florida and it measured up to everyone’s expectations. Roy Halladay got the start for the Phillies and Josh Johnson took the mound for the Marlins. Johnson came in 3-1 with an ERA of 1.68. Roy Halladay
started tonight with a 5-1 record and an ERA of 2.19. Johnson went seven innings and gave up one run on six hits, three walks and seven K’s. With his pitch count at 114 Josh was relieved after seven by Mike Dunn. Dunn pitched a scoreless eighth. Leo Nunez
also shut the Phillies down in the ninth to preserve the Marlin win 2-1 and get his twelfth save. Dunn gets the win and is now 3-2.
Roy Halladay ended up losing a tough game. He gave up two runs, one earned. Halladay’s totals, nine K’s, five hits and two walks Roy is now 5-2 this season.
The Marlins get their record to 21-14 and the Phillies are now 23-12.
TAMPA BAY RAYS @ CLEVELAND INDIANS
The Indians continued their winning ways and did it this time with a walk-off walk. It was a bases loaded walk by Michael Brantley with one out in the ninth for the win and a 14-2 home record, and that is a first in 111 years.
Josh Tomlin started for Cleveland went six innings and gave up three runs on six hits. Chris Perez (2-1) pitched the ninth for the Indians and gets the win.
Grady Sizemore hit his sixth home run and Michael Brantley nailed his second for the Indians. Asdrubal Cabrera was three for five with one RBI, he has 23 on the year.
Joel Peraita (1-2) gets the loss for Tampa. Evan Longoria (4) and Matt Joyce (3) went long for the Rays.
With their 14th consecutive win at home the Indians are 23-11 and Tampa goes to 20-15.
