PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ ATLANTA BRAVES
The Phillies tried but could not get it done and lost to the Braves 5-3. Jair Jurrjens pitched a perfect game into the sixth inning. He gets the win and is currently 5-0 on the season. Jurrjens pitched 7.1 innings giving up three runs on three hits, striking out six and allowing one walk. Craig Kimbrel gets his ninth save of the year, walking one with two K’s and no hits in the ninth inning.
Martin Prado hit his sixth home run and Nate McLouth his third of the season. Prado finishes the day with two hits and three RBI he was two for four with a walk.
Joe Blanton started for the Phillies and gave up just two runs on five hits in five innings. Both runs were the result of two solo home runs. Blanton gets the loss and is now 1-2.
The Phillies record is 25-13, Atlanta 22-19.
BALTIMORE ORIOLES @ TAMPA BAY RAYS
The Orioles blanked the Rays 6-0 and Brad Bergesen threw a four hitter for his first major league shutout. Bergesen pitched all nine innings and allowed no runs, giving up just four hits, one
walk and five strike outs. This was Brad’s first win against four losses this season.
Jake Fox and Mark Reynolds homered for Baltimore. Nick Markakis went two for three with two walks. Derek Lee, Vladimir Guerrero and Adam Jones all doubled for the O’s. The Orioles scored six runs on eleven hits with six walks.
Wade Davis (4-3) got the start and loss for Tampa. Davis pitched 5.1 innings and gave up four runs on seven hits with three walks and three K’s. The offense could only come up with four hits against the Orioles.
Tampa Bay has a record of 23-16 and the Orioles are now 18-20.
