PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ ATLANTA BRAVES
Roy Halladay lost his second complete game in a row by a 3-2 score to the Atlanta Braves. This was also the Phillies second loss in a row and lose the series to the Braves 2-1.
Halladay pitched well giving up three runs on eight hits walking two with seven K’s. He gave up a home run to Dan Uggla, a solo shot which was the game winner for the Braves. All of the other Braves hits were singles and many of them broken bat singles.
Tim Hudson got the start for Atlanta and pitched seven strong innings allowing two runs on just four hits. Jonny Venters pitched the eighth and got his third win with no losses this season. Craig Kimbrel picked up his tenth save of the season.
The Phillies delivered only four hits for Halladay and both runs were the result of a John Mayberry home run, his second of the year.
Atlanta’s record improves to 23-19 and the Phillies go to 25-14.
BALTIMORE ORIOLES @ TAMPA BAY RAYS
The Orioles are one win away from .500 at 19-20 after their win today over Tampa Bay 9-3. J.J. Hardy hit a grand slam in the sixth inning after Ray’s reliever Rob Delaney walked the bases full, one intentionally.
Jake Arrieta gets the start and his fifth win of the season for the Orioles, his record is now 5-1. Arrieta pitched six innings and gave up two runs on four hits, he struck out seven and walked three.
Andy Sonnanstine got the start and loss for Tampa. He went five innings and gave up four runs on eight hits. Matt Joyce hit his sixth home run and Elliot Johnson his first for Tampa.
