WEDNESDAY QUICK HITS
COLORADO ROCKIES @ PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
Cole Hamels had another strong outing and the Phillies put a halt to their four game losing streak beating Colorado 2-1. Hamels pitched eight strong innings allowing one run on five hits a single walk and eight K’s. Cole is now 5-2 this year. Ryan Madson came on in the ninth for the save allowing one hit and a walk, and striking out three. This was Ryan’s seventh save.
The Phillies managed only two runs on five hits but that was good enough for the win. Wilson Valdez went two for three with one RBI and Jimmy Rollins was one for three with the other RBI for the Phillies. The Phillies two, three, four and five hitters in the lineup were hitless for the night. Charlie Manuel the Phillies manager is concerned about the teams hitting problems but feels confident they will improve.
Jorge De La Rosa pitched his first career complete game allowing two runs one earned on five hits and gets the tough loss. Jorge is now 5-2.
