FRIDAY QUICK HITS
TEXAS RANGERS @ PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
Roy Halladay took the mound for the Phillies and was once again begging for some run support. In his previous two games he pitched two complete games and lost both. Halladay gave up one run to Florida and three to Atlanta in those losing efforts, he had no run support in either game. Tonight was just a little different. Roy pitched eight innings and allowed two runs on
six hits, walked one and had seven K’s. Again the Phillies offense was weak BUT scored three runs on four hits for a 3-2 win!
Roy Halladay gets the well deserved win and is now 6-3 for the season The Phillies sent Ryan Madson to the mound in the ninth and Madson gets his eighth save.
C. J. Wilson started for the Rangers and pitched a strong game going seven innings allowing three runs on four hits with 10 K’s. The two home runs were his downfall. Wilson is now 4-3.
The Phillies record is 27-17 with the win and the Rangers are 23-22.
NEW YORK METS @ NEW YORK YANKEES: Mets win 2-1 and take game one in the Subway Series. This was the Yankees sixth straight loss at home. The worst run of home losses since 2003. R.A Dickey (2-5) gets the win for the Mets. Freddy Garcia (2-4) gets the loss for the Yankees. Mark Teixeira had his eleventh home run for the Yankees and Daniel Murphy his fourth for the Mets.
CHICAGO CUBS @ BOSTON RED SOX: The Red Sox crushed the Cubs 15-5 and improved their record to 24-20 after starting the season 2-10. Boston scored the fifteen runs on nineteen hits and Adrian Gonzalez had four of them. Gonzalez went four for six with four RBI. Kevin Youkilis hit his eighth home run and Jarrod Saltalamacchia his second of the year for Boston. Doug Davis takes the loss for the Cubs he is 0-2 and Jon Lester wins his sixth for Boston against one loss.
