SATURDAY QUICK HITS
TEXAS RANGERS @ PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
Cliff Lee gets the win, he pitches eight shutout innings giving up five hits with two walks and ten strikeouts. This was Lee’s first win since April 14th, his record now 3-4. It must be noted that Lee has had little run support in his last several games, two in this game and eleven in the previous six games.
Ryan Madson is still perfect in save attempts coming in tonight to finish the shutout for Lee and recording his ninth save.
Colby Lewis (4-5) gets a tough loss for the Rangers after pitching 6.2 good innings giving up just two runs on seven hits, walking two with six K’s.
The Phillies are 28-17 and Texas is .500 at 23-23. The Phillies look for the sweep on Sunday having won the first two against Texas.
CHICAGO CUBS @ BOSTON RED SOX: The Cubs were down 3-1 going into the eighth inning and then the flood gates opened. A few hits, a few errors and before the Red Sox knew it the Cubs put eight runs on the board to take a 9-3 lead which would be the final score. Sean Marshall (2-0) gets the win for Chicago and Matt Albers (0-2) the loss for Boston.
