MONDAY QUICK HITS
CINCINNATI REDS @ PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
The five time All-Star second baseman is back in the lineup for the Phillies. Chase Utley is back and all Phillies fans hoped he would provide some much needed offense for a team that could score no more than three runs in a game since Friday May 13th. Utley went to bat five times in his first game back and sorry to say he was 0-5. There is a saying in all sports that it is part mental and the Phillies proved that, as even though Chase was 0-5, everyone else in the starting lineup had a hit. The Phillies had fourteen hits and scored ten runs to down the Reds 10-3. Manager Charlie Manuel said "I don’t know if it was his presence or not, but somebody did something right so we’ll give him the credit."
Jimmy Rollins, Palcido Polanco and Raul Ibanez all homered for the Phillies. Ryan Howard, Carlos Ruiz and Domonic Brown all doubled for the Phillies. Cole Hamels got in the action going one for three with one RBI to help his own cause.
Cole Hamels (6-2) got the start and win going six innings and allowing three runs on five hits. The Phillies are 29-18.
Bronson Arroyo started for the Reds and lasted 2.2 innings. He allowed nine runs on ten hits, his record now 3-5. Cincinnati is now 25-23.
