PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ PITTSBURGH PIRATES

     Cole Hamels did his job once again allowing one hit in eight innings. That being said would lead one to believe that the next statement would be the the winning Phillies score.

Sorry, can’t do  it, because the offense failed to show once again. The Phillies lose in twelve innings 2-1. Hamels allowed one run on one hit, walked three and had four K’s. The fourth reliever for

the Phillies was Danys Baez (1-3) and he gets the loss.

     The offense had six hits in twelve innings and Cole Hamels had two of them. Jimmy Rollins came up with two hits also, Placido Polanco and Chase Utley had one each and that’s all folks. Tough to win with a hit every other inning.

     Jeff Karstens got the start for the Pirates and pitched seven innings giving up one run on four hits with no walks and two K’s. The Pirates fourth reliever Daniel Moskos gets the win, his first of the season and is now 1-0.
    

     Jose Tabata was one for five with two RBI. The Pirates actually had one less hit than the Phillies, five for the night, and neither team had an extra base hit in the game.

 
     The Phillies have now lost three games in a row for the second time this year. Their record is now 34-23. Pittsburgh has won three of their last four games and their record stands at 27-29.
