PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ PITTSBURGH PIRATES

     Game two of the series featured Kyle Kendrick for the Phillies against Pirates Charlie Morton. Morton started the day 5-2 with a 2.51 ERA. Kendrick was 3-3 with an ERA of 3.18. This game would see both starters with a decision at games end. Charlie wins and goes to 6-2, Kyle gets his fourth loss and is now 3-4.

    The Phillies lost their fourth game in a row and have scored a total of seven runs in those losses. For whatever reason the offense is flat. The bats were a little better in this loss as the Phillies collected nine hits but were only able to score three runs.

I guess flat is a nice way to describe the offense. Raul Ibanez
and Jimmy Rollins both had a double and that would be two total extra base hits in the past two games. Not much fire power lately to say the least.

    Pittsburgh scored six runs on ten hits with Lyle Overbay and Andrew McCutchen both going three for four. Six of the Pirates hits were for extra bases in the 6-3 win. Brandon Wood hit his first homer of the year and Overbay was a homer shy of  hitting for the cycle.

    The Pirates go for the sweep on Sunday and if so they will be at .500 for the season as they are currently 28-29. The Phillies with their fourth loss in a row are 34-24 and Roy Halladay will try to stop the skid and sweep in the final game of the series.
