L.A. DODGERS @ PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

     The Phillies are home and started their ten game home stretch against the  Dodgers with Cliff Lee on the mound. Lee went seven innings allowing seven hits with a walk and ten K’s and not allowing a single run.

Antonio Bastardo pitched a perfect eighth and Ryan Madson came in the ninth and closed it out for Lee as
the Phillies downed the Dodgers 3-1. Cliff Lee is now 5-5 this season and Ryan Madson notches his thirteenth save.

   Still looking for the offense more times than not, the Phillies scored three runs on only six hits. A win is a win but wow can you imagine what the Phillies record would be with a consistent offense? Carlos Ruiz was two for four with one RBI.

Placido Polanco and Ryan Howard were both one for four and

both had a RBI.
 

   Dodgers starter Ted Lilly (4-5) pitched six innings giving up two runs on five hits with one walk and four K’s. A tough loss for Lilly as his numbers were good.

   The Phillies are 36-24, have the best record in the majors and the Dodgers loss  takes them to 28-33.
