CHICAGO CUBS @ PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

    The Phillies offense showed up a little tonight but not enough to gain a win over the Cubs. In the first game of this four game series the Cubs defeated the Phillies 4-3. The Phillies took a 3-0 lead in the second inning on a three run homer by Jimmy Rollins. The Cubs answered with one run in the sixth, one in the eighth and ninth and one for the win in the eleventh. 

    The Phillies were 32-0 when leading after eight innings, now 32-1. Ryan Madson suffered his first blown save and David Herndon (0-1) gets the loss for the Phillies.

     Seven hits are all the Phillies could come up with and the only extra base hit was the homer for Rollins. 

     The Cubs belted eleven hits including a homer by Starlin Castro and they also had four doubles. Tyler Colvin was two for four with a walk.  Sean Marshall (3-0) grabs the win and Carlos Marmaol records his twelfth save of the season. The Cubs had lost eight in a row and now are on a two game winning streak. 

     The Cubs are 25-36 and the Phillies are 37-26
