WEDNESDAY QUICK HITS

FLORIDA MARLINS @ PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

     The Phillies and Marlins met for a double header today and game one saw the Phillies do what they did last night. Kyle Kendrick (4-4) started for the Phillies and gave up a run in the first inning and from there no more runs were scored by the Marlins. The Phillies went on to score eight runs and win 8-1. Kendricks gets the win giving up the one run, allowing just five hits walking one with five K’s in seven innings.

J.C. Romero pitched a perfect  eighth and Danys Baez took care

of the ninth to close it out for Kendricks.
     Jimmy Rollins was two for five with four RBI and Wilson Valdez went three for four with three RBI. The Phillies continued their hitting from the night before with eight hits, half of them for extra bases.
     Elih Villanueva made his major league debut for the Marlins and lasted three innings allowing eight runs on five hits and five walks. The Marlins scored one run and totaled six hits.

     In game two the Phillies needed ten innings to defeat the Marlins. The  Phillies were down two runs in the bottom of the ninth, tied it at four and won it in the tenth with a walk off single from Carlos Ruiz to give the Phillies a 5-4 win.

      Roy Halladay was looking for his tenth win of the season but will have  to wait. Halladay gave up four runs on six hits in seven innings. Ryan Madson gets the win and goes to 3-1.

 
     The Phillies shoot to 42-26 with the two wins today, the Marlins are 32-35.
