OAKLAND ATHLETICS @ PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

Roy Halladay got his tenth win of the season and the Phillies win the series against Oakland 2-1. He is tied for the major league lead in wins for 2011.

Halladay is now 10-3 and the Phillies have won all of his last eight starts with Roy going 5-0 and posting a 2.64 ERA. This was also his fifth complete game  and he now leads the National League with 123 K’s.

 

In this win, Roy pitched the complete game, allowing a single run on eight hits, with no walks and four K’s.

Jimmy Rollins sparked the Phillies offense going four for four with two runs scored. Placido Polanco went two for four and the team totaled ten hits.

Josh Outman (3-2) started for Oakland and went six innings giving up three  runs on eight hits, with two walks and four K’s. Josh gets the loss, his second of the year.

The Phillies have Monday off and will host the Red Sox for a three game series starting on Tuesday. I still believe this could be a preview of the 2011 World Series. Philadelphia has the best record in the majors at 49-30 and Boston sits at 45-32. Looking forward to a great series.
