Tough luck for Roy Halladay as the heat of the night got to him and he could not continue past four innings. The temperature was 91 and it was plain to see that it got to him big time. Halladay is a warrior and had anstreak going to catch Walter Johnson for road games in which he pitched at least six innings. Johnson’s record is 82 games from 1911-1915, Roy was at 63 games, going back to 2009, and now it ends. Halladay doubled over after facing one batter in the fifth and left the game.

 

This was his first loss since May 15. Roy’s record is now 11-4. Tonight he  gave up three runs on seven hits with a single walk and strike out.

The Phillies could only manage one run on five hits in the 6-1 loss.

Rodrigo Lopez (2-2) started for the Cubs and gets the win. Lopez went 6.2 innings giving up one run on five hits, walking none, with three K’s.
The Cubs offense scored six runs on twelve hits, five were for extra bases.  Aramis Ramirez (17) and Carlos Pena (20) homered for the Cubs. Pena was three for three with two RBI and a run scored.

Philadelphia loses game one and they are 59-36, the Cubs are now 39-58.
