So OK, he is a rookie, but wow can that kid pitch! Being a rookie and not too many notches on his belt he is not one of the Phillies ‘Aces’ but at 7-1 this year he is making huge waves.
Vance Worley pitched a complete game allowing two runs on three hits, walking one with five K’s. He has thirteen career starts and in only two of those games has he allowed more than two runs. Worley wins and this his fifth in a row. Vance gave up a run in the first and one in the ninth in the 7-2 victory.

The Phillies went deep again and home runs came from Ryan Howard (20), Raul Ibanez (14), John Mayberry Jr. (12) and an inside the park homer from Chase Utley.
Philadelphia had seven runs on seven hits, four homers and two doubles making the difference in tonight’s game.

Barry Zito replaced Tim Lincecum as the starter two hours before the game started because of a stomach illness. With the loss Zito is now 3-3. Barry went seven innings allowing six runs on six hits walking two with four K’s.

The Phillies win the first game of the series and nail their 65th win of the season. They are now 65-37 and San Francisco is 59-44.
