NEW YORK METS @ PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

Just so the world knows, the Phillies do not like losing and hate, I say hate with a passion losing after leading in the ninth. In the short span of a few days it happened three times.

Each time it happened, the Phillies came back the next game and won in a  dominant way.

On August 16th they lost to Arizona after leading going into the ninth. The next game with Cliff Lee on the mound they win 9-2

 

 On August 19th it happened again as they were winning going into the ninth and Washington beat them 8-4 in extra innings. The
next day with Roy Oswalt on the mound they shutout the Nationals 5-0.

Again on Sunday they are winning going into the ninth and lose in extra innings 5-4 to the Nationals.
Today was revenge time again and they once again win and win big, this time taking their frustration out on the Mets, by a score of 10-0. Again it was Cliff Lee on the mound raising his record to 14-7.
So the Phillies will lose games, but when it’s after winning going into the ninth, do not expect them not to hurt and by no means expect them not to win the next game. They will win and win in a convincing fashion.

The offense was on their game, scoring ten runs on eleven hits with six walks. Hunter Pence nailed his sixteenth home run and John Mayberry Jr. hit number eleven. Pence was two for three with two walks, two RBI and four runs scored. Mayberry went one for three with one walk, three RBI and a run scored. Shane Victorino and Carlos Ruiz both had two RBI and Wilson Valdez one RBI. A team effort for sure.

New York Mets pitcher Dillon Gee (11-5) started and gets the loss. He lasted 3.2 innings allowing eight runs on seven hits.
 

The Phillies win number 82 the best in the majors. They are 82-44. Cliff Lee is now 4-0 for August with a ERA of 0.58 this month.
 

New York is now seven games under .500 at 60-67.
