NEW YORK METS @ PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

The Phillies were looking for the sweep today but the Mets once again avoided it by beating the Phillies 7-4. Philadelphia won all five series this season with the Mets but could never sweep them.
 

 

Kyle Kendrick (7-6) started on the mound for the Phillies and when the top of the first was finally over the Phillies were losing 4-0. Kyle lasted four innings and gave up six runs, two earned on seven hits with one walk and one strike out.
The Phillies threw five more pitchers at the Mets and combined only gave up one more run. Philadelphia could not catch up and they take the loss.
 

Mets pitcher Mike Pelfrey (7-10) started and gets the win for New York. Bobby Parnell gets his first save of the year. David Wright and Nick Evans went deep for New York it was Wright’s eleventh and Evans second home run of the year.

Chase Utley went three for four with a walk and one RBI. Hunter Pence and Carlos Ruiz were both two for five.

The Phillies have Thursday off and rest with a record of 83-45. The Mets record is now 61-68.
