PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ MILWAUKEE BREWERS

Philadelphia took on the Milwaukee Brewers tonight, the first of four on the Brewers home field. The Brewers have the best home win-loss record in baseball so the Phillies have their hands full. To make matters worse, the Phillies came into the game without starters Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard or Raul Ibanez.

 

On the bright side Cole Hamels was the starter and the Phillies have one hell of a bench! Wilson Valdez played short for Rollins, he went two for five with one RBI. John Mayberry Jr. was at first base for Howard, he went two for four with one RBI. Michael Martinez started for Chase Utley at second and went one for three. In left field was Ben Francisco starting for Ibanez and Ben went two for four with one RBI. Over in right field Hunter Pence had another great game going two for five with three RBI.

Long story short, not too long ago who would have thought the the names mentioned would be a major part of the Phillies highlights for this game? The entire Phillies team and management must be smiling ear to ear after this win.

The 7-2 win belongs to the entire team. Cole Hamels looked great pitching a complete game, allowing just two runs on four hits with two walks and two K’s. Both runs he gave up were two solo shot home runs. Cole is now 14-7 this season.

Chris Narveson (10-7) started for the Brewers and gets the loss. Narveson allowed just one hit through 5.2 innings. With two out in the sixth the Phillies unleashed on him and scored six runs.
The Phillies are now 92-48, 9-2 in my "Final 33" eight games from 100 wins and with 22 games left, looking good!
