The Phillies are in the playoffs for the fifth year in a row. They needed a win today to right the ship after losing three in a row and Roy Halladay provided them with a complete game win, his eighth, a shutout, his first of the season.

 

They avoided a sweep today and had they lost it would have been their first time suffering a sweep from any team since August 2010. They were in danger of that happening but Roy said no way. Halladay went the nine allowing six hits, one walk and racking up seven K’s. Roy improved his record to 18-5.
 

A very good thing he did because the Philadelphia offense was absent today. They  scored one run on four hits. They had a tough series in Houston scoring a total of four runs in three games.

The Astros starter Bud Norris (6-10) pitched a strong game allowing only one run on four hits, a tough loss.

The Phillies are heading home for a ten game homestand, starting with a double header on Thursday with the Florida Marlins. The Phillies are now 95-51, 11-6 in the "Final 33" five wins from the 100 mark with sixteen games remaining.
