Two games today for the Nationals and Phillies. Kyle Kendrick started for the Phillies and Tommy Milone was on the mound for the Nationals. Neither pitcher gave up a run,
Kendrick and Milone each going six innings. Kyle gave up four hits, no walks and had four K’s. Milone gave up four hits, no walks and had two K’s.
In the bottom of the seventh Raul Ibanez had a pinch hit three run homer off of Tyler Clippard.
Just about everyone played a little and the Phillies seem to be in rest mode before the playoffs start. This has been and is a demanding "Final 33" stretch.
Game two, Cliff Lee started for the Phillies went seven innings, allowed three runs, two earned, on eleven hits walked two and had nine K’s. He was relieved by Justin De Fratus who was appearing in his second major league game. Justin pitched a scoreless
eighth. David Herndon pitched a scoreless ninth for the Phillies.
The win goes to Detwiler (3-5) in the 3-0 win. The loss belongs to Cliff Lee now 16-8.
