PHILLIES 2011 NATIONAL LEAGUE EAST CHAMPIONS

The Phillies were looking for win 101 tonight, with the win they would tie the franchise record for regular season wins accomplished twice, once in 1976 and again in 1977.

Mission accomplished, they have now won 101 three times since the franchise started in 1883.

Roy Oswalt is back, pitching six scoreless innings giving up only three hits, one walk and four K’s. The final three innings were pitched by three different relievers and they gave up only one run, for the 7-1 win. Oswalt finishes the regular season 9-10 and
he is ready for the playoffs, pitching better each outing since coming off the DL.

The Phillies offense was alive and kicking once again scoring seven runs on nine hits, three of those home runs, by Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins and Hunter Pence.

The Phillies play their last regular season game on Wednesday. They are 101-60 for the season, 17-15 in the "Final 33", one game from setting the franchise record for regular season wins at 102 with one game remaining.

AMERICAN LEAGUE WILD CARD

Boston wins 8-7 over Baltimore. Tampa Bay beat the Yankees 5-3.
Tampa and Boston go into the last game of the year tied for the wild card spot.
Both teams are in a must win situation on Wednesday.

NATIONAL LEAGUE WILD CARD

Atlanta lost to the Phillies and St. Louis defeated Houston by a score of 13-6.
The Braves and Cardinals have one game left they too are tied.
Both teams have must win games on Wednesday.
