PHILLIES 2011 NATIONAL LEAGUE EAST CHAMPIONS

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ ATLANTA BRAVES

The final night of the regular season in the major league, game number 162. Really does not feel like it, but this is curtains for the majority of teams and players. There was the final night though and you could not have asked for much more across the league.

 

The Phillies against the Braves in a must win game for Atlanta just a really good example. It would take extra innings to determine the winner and the Braves postseason hopes. Philadelphia tied the game at three in the ninth inning taking the game into extra innings.

 

The Braves were well aware that St.Louis had won their game and if they could not pull the game out, their season was over. It took thirteen innings but it is over and the Phillies win game #102! A great game and now it is on to the postseason.

 

The Phillies sweep the Braves in the final three game series and
sweep the Braves right out of the playoffs.

Philadelphia finishes the regular season with the best record in baseball 102-60. They set a franchise record for wins in a season 102.

You know the drill, Philadelphia is now and forever 102-60 for the 2011 regular season, no games left, 18-15 in the "Final 33" just as I scripted it!

AMERICAN LEAGUE WILD CARD

Baltimore beats the the Boston Red Sox with two runs in the bottom of the ninth. Tampa Bay beat the Yankees in twelve after being down 7-0 going into the bottom of the eighth. Tampa Bay is the wild card winner in the American league.

NATIONAL LEAGUE WILD CARD

Philadelphia beats the Braves and St. Louis wins, the Cardinals advance as the wild card winner in the National League.
