10/19/2011
Texas at St. Louis
Game one of the World Series got underway in St. Louis with C. J. Wilson on the mound for Texas and Chris Carpenter starting for the home team Cardinals.
In a change of pace it was pitching all the way as both teams could manage just six hits each.
Chris Carpenter gets his third win in postseason play. He pitched six strong innings allowing two runs on five hits, walking one with four K’s. As usual the bullpen came in to finish and the Cardinals used five pitchers for the job with Jason Motte getting his fifth save in the 3-2 win.
