The MMA Provincial President Senator Maulana Gul Naseeb Thursday directed his activists to snatch official vehicles being used by the candidates of various political parties, especially by the Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao) and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) for their election campaigns.
"It is a fact that election campaign of the candidates of the PPP-S and PML-Q is being carried out through government expenditures and this favouritism and nepotism on the part of NWFP government has raised questions about the credibility of elections being held on February 18," he said.
Addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, he said they had time and again apprised the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) about the scenario, but to no avail. He said he had directed the MMA workers to take hold of those official vehicles if found campaigning for the candidates of aforementioned parties.
The MMA Senator also accused PML-Q provincial president and ex-federal minister Amir Muqam of influencing the elections by installing new electricity poles and transformers in his constituency.
He called upon his party workers to apprise the concerned DCOs as well as other government high ups about the situation developed after the tactics of pro-government candidates just to win their constituencies.
He came down hard on the federal government for the sudden increase in the prices of daily use stuff, flour and sugar shortage. In addition, he criticized the government for its failure to overcome electricity and gas load shedding in the chilly weather.
