Mobile ban in JK,Mebooba seeks PM’s intervention

Srinagar, October 30 (Vijay Kumar) – PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, while condemning the decision of ban on pro-paid mobile service in the State, expressed surprise that on the one hand Government has been claiming that situation has improved in the State while on the other hand
residents of this state have been denied of facilities like mobile services in the name of security threats.

Mehbooba today sought intervention of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to restore mobile service in the State. She pointed out that during his visit in Kashmir Valley Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had stated that Kashmir has been passing through goodtime but on the other
hand such oppressive steps being taken in the name of security threats. She said that decision of banning pre-paid mobile service negates statement of Prime Minister and sought personnel intervention of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to restore this service in the
State.

PDP president reminded that it was during the regime of Mufti Mohammed Sayed that mobile service was started in the state due to assiduous efforts of the then Chief Minister.  “In 2003 when the then Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayed had demanded mobile service in the State, intelligence agencies too had raised objections but it was alldue to his efforts that mobile service was provided to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir”, she reminded and regretted that in the name of security threat residents of Jammu and Kashmir have already been facing hardship with one or other way. She observed that there was no reason to ban pre-paid mobile service in Jammu and Kashmir especially at that time when situation has been changed.
