Srinagar, November 30, (Scoop News)-National Conference Sunday filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) against the BJP and Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi for hurling wild, unsubstantiated and defamatory accusations against the leadership of NC during his recent speeches in Jammu.
In a letter shot to the Chief Election Commissioner of India, NC Spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu has quoted examples of defamatory allegations made by the Prime Minister in his rallies in Jammu and said that this not only violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) but is also in contravention to all laws that are in place to protect a citizen’s rights.
“I, on behalf of J&K National Conference would like to draw your attention on successive violations of Mode Code of Conduct (MCC) by the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during his recent speeches in Jammu and Kashmir. Modi has repeatedly, more recently in his speeches in Udhampur and Poonch, named the leadership of National Conference while raising wild, unsubstantiated allegations against them. This, while a clear act of defamation is also a violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). This is also a clear attempt to malign our respected leaders who are equal citizens of this country and have every right to defend themselves against such defamation. We request you to take immediate cognizance of these violations and take the necessary action mandated under the relevant statutes of the law and treat this as our formal complaint to the Election Commission of India (ECI) on this matter” the complaint sent to the Chief Election Commissioner of India states.
