Mohan Bagan, JK-11 match on 8th September

 Srinagar, September 06 (Scoop News) – Minister for Youth Services and Sports  R. S. Chib reviewed the arrangements made by the government for the football match being played between Mohan Baghan and Jammu and Kashmir -11 at Bakhshi Stadium, Srinagar, on September 08, 2012 at 3.30 p. m, at a high level meeting here today.

            The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary PDD  Sudhanshu Panday, DIG Security  Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar,  Aushiq Bukhari, Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council  Dilip Thusoo, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar  Baseer Ahmad Khan, Director, Youth Services and Sports,  Jaipaul Singh, officers of Protocol Department and Srinagar Municipality attended the meeting.

            The meeting was informed that the people of the State have great interest in sports activities especially with football which was experienced previously when Muhammadan Sports Club, Kolkotta, played matches at Srinagar and Baramulla in which large number of the people witnessed the matches. It was also given out in the meeting that in the interest of thousands sports lovers, country’s famous football team has been approached to play goodwill match in the State.

            It was given out in the meeting that the Bakhshi Stadium where this match is being played has the capacity of 30,000 spectators and 21000 passes have been issued by the J&K Sports Council and Football Association of Jammu and Kashmir.

On the occasion  Chib said that promotion of sports is a key agenda of the coalition government and spelled out several measures taken during the past three years. He said the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is keen to see sports activities gaining momentum and the state youth participating in big events. To achieve this, he said adequate sports infrastructure is being raised all over the State. He also referred to the initiatives being taken for engaging the number of coaches in different disciplines. He said sports are a viable medium for the overall development of the youth. It is with this objective in mind, the Government is contemplating to include sports in the academic curricula at various levels.
