Police found the brutally beaten body of Monica Adams, 29, in a field in northeast Lubbock, Texas. Adams, once arrested for prostitution, is the second murdered woman whose body appeared in the same field in the last two years and the fifth woman suspected of prostitution found dead in East Lubbock County in the last 10 years.
Police said that Monica Adams’ body had been partially buried at the oil field since at least the weekend before an oil worker discovered in on Wednesday morning. The cause of her death is suspected to be blunt force trauma; an autopsy is scheduled for today.
There are not yet any suspects in the case and the details of the murder are mostly unknown. Police do not know if Monica Adams was killed where her body was found or if her body was dumped there. Recent rains washed away any evidence that might have been left behind.
In the last 10 years, five woman who had all been arrested for prostitution at one time have been killed in East Lubbock County, Texas.
