Centre government usually used to send its
teams to Jammu and Kashmir to assess losses met out of drought and floods in
past, besides whenever losses occurred due to natural calamities. But it is for
the first time post independence when not only centre government but opposition
and other groups have sent their teams to access situation in state, that too
when there occurred neither drought not floods and not also natural calamity. Interlocutors
to collect views of all sects, groups and parties regarding their demands were
appointed by centre government two months ago. Last month Special Task Force
(STF) to access the areas of development in Jammu and Ladakh region and a team
being appointed by parties other than UPA and NDA to assess situation of Jammu
and Kashmir and to find the ways and means to resolve issues if any.
In a democratic set up elected
representatives are supposed to be aware of the problems being faced by the
people of their respective segments and then at regional levels as well as
state level, so as to take assistance from the centre government. To which each
minister is entitled to the expenditure of about Rs 5 lakh per month including
salaries and other perks. But centre government appointing a team every month
to perform task supposed to be carried out by legislatures and ministers is
quite thinkable. Either centre did not trust state government which is terribly
impossible as Congress is in power in centre as well as in state, so the only
reason reaming is that coalition has lost credibility and its failure has
forced centre to address the issues directly from national capital. So has
appointed teams to get real picture of the ground situation.
Not only has this but political
stalwart of coalition National Conference and Congress have started advising
interlocutors about do’s and do not’s at the pretext of sensitive nature of
state. One fails to understand as to why these so called political stalwarts
are not fulfilling their duties towards masses and disrupt those who try to
perform on their behest. Even Member Parliament Mehboob Beg, Congress chief Saif-u-Din
Soz and PDF chief Hakim Yaseen did not resist themselves by advising
interlocutors about talking to separatists and not about other core issues of
development.
Political experts viewed that in
simple words a section in Valley is raising demand of Azadi which India has
rejected time and again. There is nothing like centre teams could find new,
they said and added that there are possibly under developed areas of the state
and that again is due to incompetency and irresponsibility of political leaders.
The only reason which can be the reason is wrong reporting by state authorities
to centre to which centre has to appoint a team to find out real situation,
they added. Whatever, be the reason but the point is if elected government is
by passed by teams appointed by centre the credibility of state government is
surely in question.
