National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of Nepal on 30 January published a field report stating the fact that Sanjiv Kumar Karna, Durgesh Labh,Pramod Narayan Mandal,Shailendra Yadav and Jitendra Jha of Janakpur were arrested and disappeared by Nepal’s security forces in October 2003.
Nepal globally stood first in disappearing her citizens. Sources claim still about 5000 Nepalis are disappearing. The Nepal government, with the worst records of human rights, has not yet made the disappearance information public despite continuous pressures from the victims’ families.
The NHRC has found the then Chief District Officer Rebati Raman Kafle blameworthy for the misuse of his authority as the chief of the district of Dhanusha district. King Gyanendra had been ruling Nepal in 2003.
The NHRC made this information public following its recent field study of janakpur.
