More Maternals die in India.

According to the survey of WHO, more Indian mothers die during pregnancy than anywhere elsewhere in the world. Though it sounds shocking, it’s the real.
India is said to have the largest number of maternal deaths in the world topping the chart of 171 countries. This is in contrast with the fact that the country is racing to become the diabetic capital.
According to the WHO maternal mortality data of 2005, 11 countries accounted for almost 65% of the global deaths in 2005, and topping the list is India.
In India the number of maternal deaths in 2005 was 117000 followed by Nigeria with 59000. The only other Asian country featuring in the top five was Afghanistan (26000)
