Srinagar, June 28(Scoop News)-The Minister of State for Tourism, Home, Industries and Commerce, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo this morning flagged off 4th Mughal Car Rally from world famous Royal Springs Golf Course Srinagar.
As many as 25 Vehicles and 9 motor cycles are participating in the extreme category and 30 vehicles in Enduro category. The Extreme Rally is the fast paced event with professional drivers, whereas the Enduro is a slow paced event. Under Extreme category (Leg-1) the rally will pass today from Srinagar-Pulwama-Shopian-Srinagar where as under Enduro (Leg-1) the rally will pass through Srinagar-Pampore-Pulwama-Dubjain-Pir-Ki-Gali, Bafliaz-Thanamandi-Rajori-Akhnoor-Jammu. Similarly, tomorrow on 29th June under Extreme Category (Leg-2) the rally will pass through Srinagar-Khanabal-Qazigund-Veerinag-Kokernag-Daksum-Simthan-Pass-Srinagar Whereas under Erduro (Leg-2) the rally will pass through Jammu-Reasi-Mahore-Gool-Ramban and return via National Highway to Srinagar.
The participants of the rally also include some foreigners from Germany, U.S.A and Austria. The Car Rally will pass through 84 Kms long Shopian-Bafliaz stretch of the Mughal Road and Anantnag-Simthan-Kishtwar road stretch.
The rally has been sponsored by J&K Tourism Department, J&K Bank and Himachal Pradesh based Himalayan Motor Sports with a view to promote adventure Tourism and to bring into focus the pristine and breath taking scenic splendor and beauty of the hitherto un exploited areas en-route Mughal Road.
The state Government has made elaborate arrangements for smooth conduct of the Car rally including security road clearance, convoy movement, emergency and rescue measures and the concerned Departments in respective districts, touching the rally, have been put on high alert to check any untoward incident. All the concerned departments have been asked to coordinate for making the event a grand success. A fool proof traffic management plan has been put in place for smooth passage of the rally.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the Car rally will inspire the local youth to participate in adventure Tourism events especially car and motor sports and will help to showcase the natural beauty of historic Mughal Road, which is emerging as an alternate National Highway between Jammu & Srinagar.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is scheduled to give away trophies and prizes among the winners of the car rally on 30th June at SKICC Srinagar.
