Delhi / Jammu And Kashmir: In order to garner support for consolidated rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir valley with over all empowerment, under the ambit of Indian Constitution as well as for the passage of KP’s Temple and shrine Bill, Kundan Kashmiri National President, (Kashmiri Pandit Conference) KPC, Stated that return of KP’s to their previous locations, villages and towns is not possible because neither the situation nor atmosphere is congenial for the same. KP’s would not like to live in suffocation, uncertainty, fear and subdued conditions after giving great sacrifice and reaming in exile for the last twenty two years.
Commenting over announcement of MOS Home, Jitender Singh in the parliament recently that they have allocated 1618 crores for rehabilitation of KP’s in the valley, Kundan said that his announcement in parliament carries no meaning for the KP’s and is unjustified. Kundan Kashmiri said that prime-minister, package of Rs. 1618.40 crores for return and rehabilitation of KP’s in the valley has already been rejected by the KP community on the whole, except some government hand-picked persons, because it is linked with the return of KP’s to their previous locations in the valley. KPC chief further said that neither a single family has returned to their home in the valley for rehabilitation purposes, nor claimed for rehabilitation assistance from Prime ministers, package, although amount of 8.35 crores was released to the state government during the year 2008-2009, to start with, as an advance, for the said purpose as earlier disclosed by the government authorities before the national Human rights commission, adding that the fate of that money was not known.
Kundan further said that present situation demands that government must respect wishes and aspirations of the KP community and rehabilitate them all at consolidated place in the valley with overall empowerment within the ambit of Indian Constitution. This alone could preserve the uniqueness of the KP Community, their culture and heritage. Highlighting the importance of Temples, shrines and other religious places in the Kashmir valley and its deep-touch with the religious sentiments and belief of the KP community, Kundan Kashmiri stated that Protection and preservation of these KP religious place in Kashmir under law is very much necessary and need of the time. He again reiterated his demand for enhancement of relief to KP migrants at least Rupees two thousand per family to coup up with the present huge price rise, scholarship for the education to their children and medical assistance for the treatment for their ailing family members
