MRDI Launches Public Relations Handbook for Corporate Sector

The Management and Resources Development Initiative (MRDI) of Bangladesh in partnership with Manusher Jonno Foundation has launched the `Public Relations Handbook’ in Dhaka.

                                                                                          

The handbook was designed for the PR practitioners to help develop their skills and capability to deal with the media more effectively. The handbook is published by MRDI.

 

M Emamul Haque, writer of the handbook, leading PR professionals, senior journalists and representatives from the corporate sector discussed the contents of the handbook.

 

They said the handbook will be helpful for the PR practitioners to have a clear understanding of the PR practices in the present day world and provide them with some useful tools for planning and executing effective media relations programmes.

 

The strategic needs of the PR practitioners have been properly outlined in the handbook and there are suggestions on how to address the needs, they added.

 

The discussants observed that the handbook contains some useful guidelines and checklists which were developed and incorporated after assessment of the needs of PR professionals and based on the experiences of professional organisations.

 

They suggested that publication of similar handbooks for other professionals could help them perform their jobs more effectively.

“The handbook will facilitate PR professional’s media work and improve their media relations with reasonable quickness.” The writer of the handbook, M. Emamul Haque, said.  “The handbook is expected to serve as a useful guide to senior management to get the right perspective of public relations work as well,” he added.

The hand book deals with issues like PR concepts, PR planning, Press Release, Understanding of Media, Crisis Communication etc. including number of useful tips to improve media relation for corporate sectors. Zafrin J. Chowdhury, Senior Communication Officer, UNICEF launched the handbook while the launching ceremony was moderated by senior journalist Syed Ishtiaque Reza.

Razu Ahmed: Razu Ahmed is a Bangladeshi journalist has been engaged in media 2000 when he was a student of Bengali literature in the university of Dhaka. After having completed his schooling he had chosen journalism as his profession. Now he is working for Boishakhi TV (A Bengali TV Chennel) as an Economic Reporter. Before this he was working for The Daily Ajker Kagoj as an Economic Reporter since 1st September 2003 to 20th September 2007. He was also worked with Weekly Ekota, the Weekly 2000 and Weekly Khaborer Kagoj. He have written various articles about different topics Such as trade, economic issues, environment, history, biodiversity, gender and international affairs.

The core areas of his professional interests include Poverty, trade, macro economy and related issues. As a Panos South Asia Fellow, he has done research on poverty reduction strategy and PRSP of Bangladesh.

Razu ahmed hails from Village Kajirgaon under Loyhajong of Munshigonj district. He has completed various workshop and training on Journalism, trade and economic issues.

For professional reason he has visited Hong Kong.
