Jammu, October 14 (Scoop News) –– Senior National Conference (NC) leader and former MLA from Raipur Domana,Jammu Satpal Lakhotra today joined Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the presence of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Satpal Lakhotra a prominent leader of NC remained MLA of Raipur Domana Assembly segment from the year 1996 to 2002.
Satpal Lakhotra has written a letter to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in which he had requested the former Chief Minister to enroll him as member of the PDP because he is impressed by the policies and programmes of PDP and leadership qualities of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who as a Chief Minister of the State has set an example of good governance.

Later a function was held at PDP office in which senior party leaders felicitated Satpal Lakhotra for joining the party. A large number of party workers were present in the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Satpal Lakhotra said that he has decided to join PDP because this is the only party which is committed for equitable development of the State. He said that as Chief Minister of the State Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has set an example of good and accountable governance in the State. He listed various developmental projects started in the State during the period of PDP-Congress coalition. He further said that PDP led coalition headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has carved out a path of
equitable development in the State in which every regions and sub-regions got equal opportunities in developmental process.
Highlighting policies of the party, he said that PDP has been propagating the policy of peace and reconciliation and it was all due to these policies that peace was restored all along the border in the State. He further added that stand taken PDP for restoring peace in the State has been endorsed by the successive governments at New Delhi be it NDA regime headed by Atal Behari Vajpayee or the present UPA government headed by Dr Manmohan Singh.
He gave call credit to the PDP for restarting the stalled dialogue process also because it was only during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed the Government of India had started talks with the different groups of
Furthermore, it was result of the PDP’s policy of peace and reconciliation that a number of Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) were initiated during the period of PDP-Congress coalition regime which ultimately created an atmosphere of peace and normalcy in the State.
