New Delhi, India: Indian Attorney Anjali Waghmare says that she has been continuously threatened by a right wing Hindu extremist group called Shiv Sena.
As a matter of fact, she is representing the lone surviving suspect of the Mumbai terror attacks, Ajmal Kasab.
“I am doing everything on my own risk for the interest of the country, Waghmare told the media.
Waghmare was appointed by a Mumbai court to represent Mohammad Ajmal Kasab, who told the court he can not afford to pay for a lawyer.
She now has serious concerns about her safety, Police say demonstrators threw stones and chanted loudly during a protest rally outside Waghmare’s home.
The protestors from an extremist group had targeted another court-appointed lawyer who eventually withdrew from the case.
Moreover, the difficulties finding an attorney to represent Ajmal Jasab has forced delays in the trail.
Ajmal Kasab along with nine other gunmen carried out the November terrorist attacks in Mumbai that killed more than 160 people and he now faces number of charges including murder and waging war against India.
