India’s first Sea bridge Bandra Worli sealink is inaugurated by UPA chair person Sonia Gandhi today and it opens for the public from midnight 12:01 am.

sea link has been inaugurated by UPA chair person Sonia Gandhi today afternoon. Actually this event was planned long ago but was delayed due to some reasons. Sharad Pawar was also an cheif guest for the inauguration function. Actually Sharad Pawara attended the function but he was absent during the time of inauguration, sources say that he has just quited the function because of Sonia Gandhi.
Bandra-Worli sealink is the India’s first Sea Bridge. It is an ambitious eight-lane twin carriageway built over the Mahim Creek of Arabian Sea. The bridge rests on two towers, each 126 metres tall or equivalent to a 43-storeyed building. The bridge weighs 3, 40,000 tons. The structure is corrosion proof and water proof. One way trip to sea link costs 50Rs.The project has been cost about 1.650 crorescrores more than they planned. We can reach Bandra to Worli in 7 min which saves 35 min of travel.This sea link is 4.7 km long and took 9 years for completion. And this bridge would be a next added attraction to Mumbai after Gateway of India.Before this bridge was constructed it took nearly 75 minutes to travel from Bandra to Worli beacuse of high traffic.
Spectacular fireworks enthralled the residents, a day before the opening of the link, which will facilitate rapid conveyance from Mumbai’s west to south.This link would be open to the common public from Midnight i.e 12:01 am onwards. So Mumbai residents are going to have a great time today.
