Babasonicos / Genre: Pop Rock, Rock
"Pijamas" by Babasonicos on youtube
There was a time when a good friend of mine recommended that I listen to Babasonicos. That was years ago, somewhere back in the, late 90’s. A few years later I would come to listen to this group and could not feel any more ecstatic.
When you think of Rock en Espanol, one would think of loud but romantic, ear-bursting drums, long-haired latin men, etc. This may be true of Babasonicos only their sound is not so loud. Their are times when the group sounds more like an indie rock group, mellow.
Their most recent album Mucho, is nothing less than spectacular. The Argentines deliver and there is not a single track I can consider dull or worth skipping. My favorite track is Estoy Rabioso. The tempo is more upbeat and the sound is more rock and roll on this track.
Babasonicos proves that Argentina should not only be known for their infamous tango. Musically, Argentina has much to offer and Babasonicos is only one of the many talented bands and musicians. Are they truly worth listening? You can find a more expert analysis on Rolling Stones or any other music review site if I was not successful in convincing you of the quality of this group.
Hotel Costes Series mixed by Stephane Pompougnac / Genre: House, Lounge
Hotel Costes Info on Wikipedia
"Only in New York" by Demon Ritchie (Hotel Costes 8) on youtube
The Hotel Costes series consists of 12 albums, one of them being the entire collection. Each CD definitely delivers the right amount of ambience lounge music gives off. It is a demanding task to talk about each album individually, there are just so many tracks to enjoy.
I was able to receive plenty of compliments when playing some of the tracks at a house party. There were several party-goers who asked about the songs and the name of the albums, all of this which I took as a positive review for the Hotel Costes series.
Stephane Pompougnac, French DJ, has also worked on his own albums but he is more known for his Hotel Costes collection, a collection which spans 9 years.
If I were to recommend tracks that I cannot help but listen to over and over, I would not be able to list them briefly. I would suggest previewing the albums, listening to them before you invest in them. I am sure you will not be deceived and will enjoy each album to a certain extent.
