Jammu, January 29 (Scoop News) – Lauding the role of SaMaPa Aalap festival, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today said that such events help in promoting classical music and sensitizing younger generation about State’s rich art and cultural heritage.
The classical, Sufi and folk music festival concluded with enchanting music performances by Abhay Rustum Sopori. The 5th Annual SaMaPa Aalap Festival (2011) was organized by ‘Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts’ (SaMaPa) and Tourism department.
The Deputy Chief Minister said efforts of SaMaPa, Music Legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori and the young maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori are greatly helping in reviving the cultural glory in the State, thus creating a new generation of music connoisseurs and performers. He congratulated Abhay for being honored with the prestigious ‘J&K State Award 2011’.
Director Information Kh. Farooq Renzushah congratulated SaMaPa and the Sopori family for their work in preserving the cultural identity of the State and country.
Abhay Sopori expressed his gratitude to Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and Minister for Tourism and Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora for their support and all those who made the festival a success.
He thanked Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda, Director Information Kh. Farooq Renzushah, Commissioner , JMC S. C. Sawhney, various institutes and centers who hosted the festival alongwith Department of Information, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, the New India Assurance Co. Ltd. and all those who came forward in making the festival a success. This year the Aalap festival featured around 25 presentation spread over 17 days.
SaMaPa Aalap 2011 was highly commended by everyone for creating a new wave in the field of art and culture and special concerts organized for Police personnel, Media personalities and journalists of J&K, people living in border areas like Khour, RS Pura and Rajouri. The presentations featured recital by various eminent internationally acclaimed musicians from various parts of the country together with different musicians from the State of J&K performing the festival.
The mesmerizing and thrilling concerts by Music legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori, Santoor Maestro and Composer Abhay Rustum Sopori, Sitar maestro Ustad Saeed Zafar Khan, Sarod maestro Ustad Danish Aslam Khan, Sufi Diya Ms. Ragini Rainu, Flute Maestro Pandit Ajay Prasanna, Vocal exponent Dr. Ojesh Pratap Singh and many other including Ustad Sajjad Ahmad on Harmonium, Ustad Rafiuddin Sabri, Shri Zahir Akhtar Hussain, Shri Durjay Bhaumik and Shri Sarit Das on Tabla marked the concluding function of the festival. They were joined by Prof. Kailash Mehra, one of the leading singers of the State, Shri Bua Ditta and Shri Ravi Sharma on Harmonium together with numerous young children and upcoming artist of the State.
