The World renowned Music Maestro A.R.Rahman has formally opened up his "KM Music conservatory" in Chennai, in the presence of august music personalities from India and abroad (the likes of Ms.Vendy Paar (violin trainer),Pushkar (Composer cum conductor), T.Selvakumar (Managing Director,KM Music Conservatory),Dr.L.Subramaniam,(violin Maestro),Gulam Mustafa Khan (Hindustan vocalist), Randel Giles (Composer from US),Lendis Lav (violinist from Czechoslovakia),Srinivas (Professor) and Murtaza Khan and others).
The Music Conservatory presently located at the studio of Rahman, Chennai will be shifted to a leafy three acres campus to be built shortly and is expected to be finished in two years.The newly built conservatory will have classrooms, a consert hall, a recording studio and a residential facility.
The Music Conservatory has been named after ‘KM’, something close to the heart of Rahman.
The Music Conservatory will have a curriculam of three important courses.The preparatory course is held as part-time which has no age limit. Foundation course will be offered to the students who take music as a profession. A two-year diploma course will be offerred to those who want to pursue advanced study. Fee structure for the courses is being chalked out. As far as Indians are concerned a reduced fee-structure will be frammed and fee-concession and 50 % scholarship from Rahman’s Foundation will also be offerred to the deserving and poor students.
